Creative Writing 2: Barder and the Flyin Turban

My name is Henry, I am five years old and I have a dog named Barder. Barder and I always go on adventures together. Whether it's sailing the open seas in the bathtub, to desert storm in the sandbox, we always have fun.

It was a beautiful Saturday morning and mommy had arranged us to go to the park with some of my friends in my kindergarten class. So I went down to eat a nice breakfast with pancakes, eggs, bacon, mm... boy was it good. Mommy makes the best pancakes my favorite are her chocolate chip pancakes. After she got me dressed, it was pretty cold outside so she gives me a warm blue sweater with a stripped shirt underneath. Then it was off to the park, I even got to bring Barder along to play, he just loves to play with everyone at the park.

On our way there I was gleaming with excitement because I just love having adventures with my other friends. Finally we arrive at the central park, it's my favorite because it's got wide open spaces and a gigantic playground surrounded by the desert storm sandbox but this time even bigger than my backyard, it was like a dream come true for us kids. As we pulled up to the parking lot, I can already see my friends sitting at a bench waiting for me to come and play with them. As soon as my mom parks and gets me out of the car seat I bolted towards my friends, then we all looked at each other then the playground and ran straight for it. We were already halfway to the playground but then I can hear one of the moms saying " wait up kids, don't just run of like that!" we all stopped and waited there anxiously until our moms finally sat on a bench closest to the playground. Then my mom said " alright kids go have fun".

We all screamed out "yay !" and ran for the fun filled sandbox. we played for hours, then we had a picnic with PB& J sandwiches. After we decided to relax for a bit and I just closed my eyes for a second. All of a sudden I woke up because Barder was barking at something in these huge bushes on the side of the jungle gym. I decided to follow him and investigate what he was barking at. I made my way inside the bushes, I didn't hear much so I called out for Barder but no answer... I called him again but still nothing. I walked a little further until I came upon an empty space in the middle of it all. I had found Barder staring at this orange turban looking thing. I went up to it and decided to try it on, it was a perfect fit. I suddenly felt a strange feeling all over my body, I grabbed a hold to Barder and all of a sudden we started flying.

It was amazing, I thought to myself that this turban has magical powers and gave me the ability to fly, I knew this day was going to be fun and exciting. Barder and I flew all over town, the state, then all over the world. we ended up stopping at many places like this one where they had a huge tower overlooking the whole city. Then to a place where it was basically like the biggest sandbox I've ever seen. It was probably the best adventure I've ever experienced. Then like a flash we hit this huge storm with monstrous waves. We tried to avoid them but the wind and rain were just hitting us so hard.

A bolt of lightening nearly hit us, we didn't realize that a 1,00 foot wave was headed straight for us and it was too late to move out of the way and we end up getting hit so bad that we both fall out of the sky and BAM! darkness... I heard a voice saying "Henry, wake up Henry, we are going to be leaving". I woke up to find that I was till at the park, everyone was leaving and saying there goodbyes. Barder was laying right beside me in the grass, so my mom picks me up and gets to the car and strapped me in my car seat. My mom starts up the car and drives back home, then she asks " so did you have fun at the park", before I could answer I feel right back asleep. I thought about how it was just a dream and it was probably the best dream I've had but either way it was the best adventure I will never forget with me and my dog Barder.
